root to rise: An extended practice with Meg
Sunday, June 1st 4:30-6pm
Move with intention, breathe with awareness, and reconnect with your foundation.
Step into Spring with an extended practice designed to mirror the rhythms of the season, blending the deep stillness of yin yoga with the strength and fluidity of slow, intentional vinyasa. Spring embodies the balance of yin and yang-- the shift from the stillness of winter to the vibrant energy of summer. Just as nature transitions between these forces, our practice will honor both-- grounding into deep release and surrender, then rising into strength and expansion. Together we'll align with the natural rhythms of the season and our own inner renewal.
We'll begin with yin postures to settle the body and open key areas, preparing for a strong, slow and deep vinyasa flow. The practice will close with restorative shapes allowing for integration and deep relaxation, leaving you feeling grounded, open and refreshed. All levels welcome.

Summer Solstice 108 with Casey
Friday, June 20th 7:30-9pm
Usher in the Summer Solstice with a full mala, 108 sun salutations.
In this extended practice Casey will guide you through (and keep track of) 108 surya namaskars. There will be 12 different salutations repeated 9 times each, honoring 12 different energies.
The practice of 108 Sun Salutations on the Summer Solstice is a New Age observance, merging ancient and contemporary ideals. In the Yogic tradition, 108 is a sacred number. Vedic mathematicians viewed 108 as a number of spiritual completion. The diameter of the sun is 108 times the diameter of the earth, while the average distance of the sun and moon to earth is 108 times their particular diameters; in astrology, there are 12 constellations and 9 planets (12×9=108); there are 54 letters in the Sanskrit alphabet and each has a masculine and feminine form (54×2=108); there are 108 petals in a natural rose; and, malas come as a string of 108 beads that orbit like planets around the sun or “guru bead.” These are just some of the many examples that exist which support the significance of 108 in various religions and traditions around the world.
Don’t worry about how many you do, it is not a competition. Your intention behind the practice is what matters most. If you remember to breathe deeply and intentionally and stay present, you will experience the benefits of the 108.
This practice creates a tremendous amount of upward energy, and, as a result, stagnant energy and emotions will begin to move throughout the body.
Modifying, taking breaks, and resting are all highly encouraged. Bring your Mala beads if you have them.
